PPPC Board Undergoes Orientation Workshop in Salima
The Public Private Partnership Commission (PPPC) successfully concluded a two-day orientation workshop for its board members on December 6, 2024, at a Sunbird Waterfront in Salima. The workshop, held from December 5-6, was officially opened by the Chairperson of the Board, Mrs. Stella Maluza Sesanga, and served as a platform to equip the board with the knowledge and tools necessary for steering the Commission’s operations and fostering Malawi’s development agenda through public-private partnerships.
In her opening remarks, Mrs. Maluza Sesanga emphasized the strategic importance of board capacity in advancing the Commission’s mandate. “This workshop is not just an opportunity to deepen our understanding of the PPP framework but also a call to action for all of us to align our roles with the national development goals. Effective governance and strategic oversight will ensure the success of our initiatives,” she said.
The workshop covered key topics, including:
The legal and regulatory framework governing PPPs in Malawi; The Commission’s Strategic Plan, with a focus on its alignment with national development priorities; Risk allocation and management in PPP projects; Governance and Public Officers Asset Declaration.
Presentations were delivered by PPPC management and the interactive sessions allowed board members to deliberate on their roles, responsibilities, and the pressing need to accelerate project implementation in the various sectors.
The workshop also provided a platform for networking and team building, fostering a cohesive vision for the board as it undertakes its responsibilities.
In her closing remarks, Mrs. Maluza Sesanga expressed confidence in the board’s ability to drive the Commission forward. “This orientation has equipped us with the tools to make informed decisions, address challenges, and seize opportunities. Together, we will ensure that the PPPC continues to be a catalyst for Malawi’s economic growth,” she stated.
The orientation marks a critical step in strengthening the governance and strategic oversight of the PPPC as it positions itself to deliver impactful public-private partnerships for the benefit of all Malawians.
